VERMENTINO • The star white wine of Sardinia has adopted well to California's hot and

CHENIN BLANC •  Renowned in the Loire valley of France and grown in a number of 
California appellations. Melon, apple & crisp finish           
GRENACHE BLANC • The white offshoot of red Grenache originated in Spain and came of age in Rhone blends. Green apples & peach  
PINOT BLANC •  A cousin of Pinot Noir with Chardonnay-like flavors
of apple, pear &  honey

PINOT GRIS & PINOT GRIGIO 
Gris and Grigio translate to 'gray,' referring to the grape color of this member of the 
Pinot family. Immensely popular in Italy and well-adapted to the cooler regions of 
California and Oregon. Aromatic and typically dry with flavors of honey, pear, apple, 
tropical fruit and citrus.

VIOGNIER •  Difficult to grow, yet has shown great promise in the central and north

ROSÉ
 
In the tradition of the Mediterranean coast of France, dry Rosé has become popular 
among a number of vintners in California. Refreshing examples are made combining the 
hearty components of red wine with the crispness of white wine. Fresh tasting

PINOT NOIR, PINOT MEUNIER & PINOTAGE
PINOT NOIR • 2000 years of cultivation in the Cote D'Or of France has set high 
standards for the world to emulate. The cool regions of California & Oregon are ideal 
for growing Pinot Noir with pronounced flavors of strawberry, raspberry & smoke
      
PINOT MEUNIER • French for 'miller' due to the white underside of
the leaves that  resemble sifted flour. Emphasis on bright, red fruit flavors.
PINOTAGE • Created in South Africa, a cross of Pinot Noir and the
Rhone grape Cinsault  and now grown in California. Spice, plum & pepper.

BARBERA, CHARBONO & SANGIOVESE        
BARBERA • Native to Piedmont, Italy, this varietal is know for its bright 
characteristics of cherry and soft tannins.   
CHARBONO •  Mention this varietal among old school Napa vintners and you
will hear  about the legendary Inglenook Charbonos of the seventies! Thankfully a
number of  vintners including Robert Foley carry on the tradition of making
these jammy & spicy  wines.         
SANGIOVESE • The principal grape grown in the Tuscany region of Italy. In California 
it exhibits flavors of black cherry, plums and cinnamon

SYRAH, SHIRAZ & PETITE SYRAH         
SYRAH • Grown in the Rhone valley since Roman times, the varietal makes for 
long-lived wines of blackberry, plum and smoke flavor.      
SHIRAZ • Syrah brought to Australia in the 1830's became known as Shiraz where the 
fruit-driven style has won fans all over the world.     
PETITE SYRAH • Interchangeable with Petite Sirah, the grape is a viticultural cross 
between Syrah and Peloursin. Blackberry and pepper

MERLOT, MALBEC & CABERNET FRANC
MERLOT • Considered an offspring of Cabernet Franc and related to Cabernet Sauvignon, 
Merlot adds body and softness to Bordeaux blends. The palate is rich with flavors of 
cherry, plum and chocolate.         
MALBEC • And its Italian cousin Piedierrosso, originated from the grape Cot in the 
Cahor region of France. Complimentary to a number of Bordeaux blends Malbec adds dark 
color, plum-like flavors and complexity. On its own it shows ripe fruit flavors of 
plums and blackberry.           
CABERNET FRANC • Related to Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the five traditional grapes of Bordeaux. Aromatic flavors of cherry and plum

CABERNET SAUVIGNON
One of  three central grape varietals of the Bordeaux, France.  Cabernet Sauvignon is 
a cross between Cabernet Franc & Sauvignon Blanc. The sunny northern California climate
allows 100% varietal bottling or as part of a blend.  Age worthy wines of blackcurrant,
cherry & plum.
